Balade à vélo : tour de l'Isle Crémieu

From the Vallée Bleue, take the ViaRhôna cycle path going upstream, towards the hilltop medieval town of Quirieu.

As you move away from the river, you discover a setting made up of marshes. Then, you leave this wetland to take, at Arandon, the old Est Lyonnais railway line, converted into a greenway.
On your way, the castle of Serrières and the Fortified House of Montagnieu remind you of the history of the territory.

In Trept, a well-deserved break to eat is recommended if you do this route in one day.

Then take the greenway to the medieval town of Crémieu where the Augustinian cloister, the market hall, the fortified gates and Saint-Hippolyte hill are all sites to visit.

In Hières-sur-Amby, you can stop at the archaeological museum to immerse yourself in the rich history of the area.

Continue your journey and discover a completely different universe: The Caves of La Balme. Bats, underground lakes and labyrinths are waiting for you. Follow the river again for a few kilometers.

After crossing the right bank, you have a magnificent view of Vertrieu, a small village with two castles, before crossing the Rhône again at the Villebois hydraulic works. A recreational break is possible at the Isle de la Serre leisure center.

Then, follow the river on the left bank and return to the Vallée Bleue, a leisure area but also a place marked by the history of the quarry basin.

In the case of a two-day tour, Trept is an ideal place to spend the night.
