Lovers of heritage and wild landscapes, embark on this 51 km cycling expedition (difficult level) through the terrain of Isle-Crémieu.
Starting from the Vallée Bleue, this challenging route rewards you with exceptional historical and natural sites.
Key stages of your itinerary:
The Brotel Fortified House (“The Eagle's Nest”): Perched on its rocky spur, this 13th-century building overlooks the Amby Valley. Discover its unique history, from its construction by the Laure family to its use as a guarded residence for statesman Edouard Herriot during the Second World War.
The Larina Archaeological Site: A veritable balcony overlooking the Rhône plain, this rocky spur was successively a Gallic oppidum and a vast fortified estate in the Middle Ages. The remains are open to the public and offer a fascinating journey into Late Antiquity.
Tip: Don't miss the heritage museum to further your exploration of the site.
Lemps Pond: A nature break is a must in this 23-hectare protected wetland. An educational trail and an observation point (accessible to people with reduced mobility) allow you to admire the aquatic wildlife.
The highlight of the show: Keep your eyes peeled for the European pond turtle, a rare and protected turtle, recognizable by its yellow spots, which has found refuge in these peaceful waters.
A complete course for curious sports enthusiasts, combining physical challenges, historical immersion and observation of the preserved nature of North Isère.

Depending on your schedule and the weather, plan to bring: picnic/snack, sunglasses, water bottle, and sunscreen.
The bikes are equipped with a lock, a repair kit and a roadbook. Wearing a helmet is strongly recommended and compulsory for children under 12 years old.
From the Vallée Bleue leisure centre, head towards the Maison Forte de Brotel. Nestled at the top of a rocky spur overlooking the Val d'Amby, this old Maison Forte was built in the 13th century and then remodelled in the 15th and 16th centuries. This beautiful residence is now nicknamed the "Eagle's Nest" of Brotel.
Take the road back to the archaeological site of Larina. Overlooking the cliffs and dominating the Rhone plain, the rocky spur of Larina, initially a Gallic oppidum, shelters the remains of a vast rural and fortified estate dating from late Antiquity and the early Middle Ages. Access is free all year round, from sunrise to sunset. A detour to the archaeological museum, in the heart of the village, is ideal to complete the discovery of the site.
Finish your walk in the heart of Isle Crémieu, where the Lemps pond is hidden. This 23-hectare site offers a thematic trail and an observatory, accessible to people with reduced mobility. You will discover the aquatic life of the pond with a bit of luck, you will be able to observe the remarkable European pond turtle recognizable by its black neck with yellow spots.
Return to the Vallée Bleue leisure center.
