Circuit vélo : Le Tour de la Vallée Bleue
An unmissable cycling loop starting from the Vallée Bleue (26km)! ViaRhôna, views of the town of Quirieu, crossing the Rhône and return via the right bank through the Espace Eau Vive. Nature, industrial heritage and the landscapes of the Bugey region are all on the agenda.
Enjoy a varied cycling loop combining the ViaRhôna, nature trails, and the discovery of local heritage. Starting from the Vallée Bleue Leisure Centre, this route offers a breath of fresh air at the foot of the Bugey mountains.
The key stages of your walk:
Towards Quirieu: Start on the ViaRhôna towards the Vicat cement works and the medieval site of Quirieu. Enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the Rhône Valley.
The Right Bank: Cross the Briord bridge to join the old towpath to the base of the Green Point.
Nature or Discovery (your choice):
Continue on the regular cycle path.
Or opt for the paths of the old meanders of the Rhône at Serrières (mountain bike/hybrid bike recommended).
Cultural option: A 5-6 km detour allows you to visit the old millstone quarries of Villebois.
Water and Energy: Admire the curious "Coiffed Damsels" of Villebois, cross the dam and make a spectacular stop at the Isle de la Serre (artificial river for kayaking and whitewater swimming).
The Return: Walk alongside an old railway line with an unobstructed view of the mountains before returning to the Blue Valley for a refreshment or a well-deserved meal by the water.

Itinerary on a cycle path, vigilance point on the Sault-Brenaz and Briord Bridges.
Departure and return from the Vallée Bleue leisure centre.
Depending on your schedule and the weather, plan to bring: picnic/snack, sunglasses, water bottle, and sunscreen.
The bikes are equipped with a lock, a repair kit and a roadbook. Wearing a helmet is strongly recommended and compulsory for children under 12 years old.
The Vallée Bleue is located on the banks of the Rhône, it is a must-see on the Viarhôna. By cycling around the Vallée Bleue, you will take part of this cycle route which connects Lake Geneva and the Mediterranean Sea.
From the Vallée Bleue, take the ViaRhôna route towards the Vicat cement works and the medieval site of Quirieu.
Cross the Rhône at the Briord bridge and take the old tarmacked towpath on the right bank. Then follow the river to the Point Vert leisure centre.
From there, you have two choices: follow the Rhône on the cycle path or take the passable roads of the old meanders of the Rhône at Serrières.
A 5 to 6 km detour via the millstone quarries (former Villebois limestone mining) is possible.
After the 100% renewable energy production field, cross the Villebois dam and take a break to discover the artificial river of Isle de la Serre, an essential meeting place for fans of whitewater activities.
Then take ViaRhôna and go up the Rhône along an old railway line.
The return to the Vallée Bleue is done with a clear view of the Bugey massif.
