It was on a sunny and warm Sunday that we felt like riding the Electric bikes to explore this famous "Green Way" that we hear so much about in the Balcons du Dauphiné region…
Neither one nor two, cap on the head, sunglasses on the nose, sunscreen widely spread on the skin and sneakers on the feet, let's go!
9:00 a.m.: departure from Crémieu
First stop: the parking lot! After reaching Cours Baron Raverat (the Champs-Élysées of the medieval town of Crémieu ) , and then taking Rue des Capucins which passes in front of the Hôtel La Batisse, we arrive directly at a parking lot with a few spaces shaded by trees (phew!). The car is safely parked, feet on the pedals, ready to go, heading towards the Green Way just above our heads…
The first kilometers in the shade of the trees…
We start slowly but surely: without electric assistance and in the cool shade of the vegetation… After crossing several small bridges, passing walkers and other athletes on foot (“Hello”) , we pass at the foot of the Fuza Gorge before entering the woods (“Hello”) . A most pleasant atmosphere by a stream, listening to the sounds of the water and the birds… We then discover some pretty, narrow passages (two people can't fit through!) and then… Wow! We enter a magnificent natural archway, where the interplay of light with the sun's rays and the gentle breeze amazes us… A photo stop is a must (“Hello”) , but “Off we go!”: we still have a long way to go, we must continue…
Crémieu, it's already over… Let's go to Trept!
A few meters further on, after crossing carefully and following the D517 behind a hedge of vegetation that literally makes us forget the road, we rush back into the woods. Here, the Voie Verte becomes wider. Friends are walking (" Good morning "), children learn to ride a bike (" Good morning "), husbands distance themselves from their wives (oops, do we have to say it?)…
Arriving in front of the renowned restaurant "Le Bois Joli" (Solange's frogs!), we cross the roundabout at the train station and continue our journey in the cool air to the village of Trept… Still a pleasant setting and a surprise panorama over the Balcons du Dauphiné!
10:15 a.m.: the break is essential
After crossing the lower part of the village of Trept, admiring the Château de Serrières from afar, passing the Camping des 3 Lacs du Soleil , and guided by our stomachs, we decided to make a pit stop: having arrived in Sablonnières, we left the Green Way for a few meters to buy some sweet and savory treats at the bakery near the old train station ("Bonjour") . Good idea or bad, we now couldn't wait to reach the end of the route so we could eat them!
10:30 a.m.: home straight!
We're now tackling the final kilometers of the Green Way: the shade is getting a little scarcer, the path straighter… Electric mode activated to ease the strain on our legs. And suddenly, without us seeing it coming, it's already over! We've reached the junction of the Green Way with the ViaRhôna , which takes you towards Morestel (to the right) or the Vallée Bleue (straight ahead).
For us, it's a straight shot! We decided to extend our walk a few meters to the Fongeau pond for our much-anticipated picnic break. Fishermen ("Hello") , families ("Hello") , and cyclists ("Hello") had the same idea... But luckily, there's room for everyone!
11:30 a.m.: what if we go home?
That's not all, but the car is waiting for us at Crémieu… Let's go for the same, in the other direction!
Estimated arrival: 13:30 p.m. with Turbo mode activated.
Review of the morning: 100% satisfied!
A very nice experience!
You will have understood it: you will say " Good morning " Many times during the day (at the end, you won't even realize it), you will enjoy the coolness of the woods, you will discover monuments on your way, you will even be able to help those who have had the misfortune to die on the way (it was our BA of the day!)… A moment to share as a couple, with friends or family: easy level guaranteed! Because yes, even without an electric bike, it is possible: it will just take a little more time or reduce the kilometers thanks to the car parks that you will find along the Greenway (in Trept and Sablonnières).
The Tourist Office offers a free special "cycling" map showing the route of the Green Way, the ViaRhôna, and all the sites to visit within 4 km of these cycle paths. Practical information will also guide you.
