Tour du Poulet
Located in the castle district, it has been listed in the supplementary inventory of historical monuments since November 2022. Its name remains enigmatic and is thought to refer to the name of one of its most important owners, Poulet or Pollet.
This square tower, gradually disappearing under ivy, is undoubtedly all that remains of the old 12th-century castle. Its construction is thought to have taken place between the mid-12th and mid-13th centuries. While its military function is undeniable, its large openings contradict its defensive role.
It would therefore be more likely a tower with a symbolic purpose, testifying to the military power of the Archbishop of Vienne, thus displaying his authority over the abbey and the territory.
