Located at the entrance to the town via the Fusa gorges, this washhouse was built at the very end of the XNUMXth century. Its impressive dimensions make it the largest washhouse in the area!
Rectangular in plan, it is composed of a limestone base supporting a low brick wall. Its large size imposes the presence of twelve piles on the two long sides and four on the two short sides, two of which are double at an angle. These piles, in limestone worked with a bush hammer, are surmounted by a square capital.
Seeming to be the only wash house in Crémieu, only the Vaux river was used for this purpose when it still ran along the ramparts. Washing stones are visible at the Gate of the Law.
