Dizimieu

Welcome to Dizimieu, a charming village south of the Balcons du Dauphiné, in Nord-Isère. Dizimieu, which is home to a medieval castle, offers a rural and peaceful living environment.
1. Dizimieu and its heritage

– The parish church of Saint-Martin: built in the first half of the 1870th century on the property of the lords of Dizimieu. Historically located near the castle, it was rebuilt in XNUMX. It houses a cemetery at a place called La Perrière.

– Dizimieu Castle (private site): partially listed as a historic monument, it dates from the 13th century and was restored in the 19th century.

– Vernacular heritage: other heritage sites, such as the Pré de Vard dovecote, the village bread ovens, the renovated or old fountains and wash houses bear witness to the tradition and way of life of past generations.

- A train station…?! : you might not have guessed it, but formerly in the hamlet “Les Tronches” there was the train station of Les Tronches. It is located on the greenway (former Eastern Lyon railway). Opt for a stroll along this path!

2. The story of Dizimieu through…

– The coat of arms of the commune: it bears the imprint of the Dizimieu family by the silver rose, as well as that of the Chaponnay family by the crested golden rooster and the coat of arms of the former province of Dauphiné by the azure dolphin. It symbolizes the nobility and historical heritage of the region.

– Augustin Beaud: this historical character was born in Dizimieu. He is at the origin of the first eternal flame under the Arc de Triomphe in 1923. His memorial contribution is a proud heritage for the Dizimolans. Before that, he had installed a lamp at the Panossas cemetery in memory of those who fell during the war.

3. Dizimieu for art lovers

– The Kalloné Gallery: extending over more than 250 m², it exhibits unique works by regional artists and craftsmen. Whether you are looking to beautify your interior or find an original gift, Galerie Kalloné offers unique creations and creates tailor-made pieces.
