The commune of Bouvesse-Quirieu has one washhouse per hamlet: Bouvesse, Chavanne, Enieu, Marlieu, Quirieu, Le port de Quirieu and le Bayard.
Originally made up of very basic water reservoirs dug near streams, they were called "gabouillons" in the region.
