Let yourself be surprised by the power of the stories told by each line, each color, each detail.
Discover: Children's drawings from Izieu, period books that inspired them, drawings by deportees, original comic strips…

The temporary exhibition Papivores! Thirst to express oneself highlights the artists who, through their actions of drawing, sketching, coloring pages, evoke a multitude of emotions in us.
“Paper-eater” was the term Miron Zlatin used for children. They used paper and drawing, artistically for the most gifted, childlike for the youngest, relating the dreams and stories of the time.
At the end of the war, or even sometimes in the camps, scribbling pages was for some a way to escape or to transcribe what no words were strong enough to describe.
For some years now, comic book artists have been "inking" the history of Izieu and that of their own families. A true tool for transmitting memory, drawing then becomes a universal story that touches each of us.
Let yourself be surprised by the power of the stories told by each line, each color, each detail. Come and discover drawing as a language!

In the windows of the Zlatin Gallery, original pieces await you from the archives of the Maison d'Izieu or from the private collections of the artists.
Children's drawings from Izieu and the books that inspired them document life in Izieu, the life of children like any other who loved to draw what surrounded and inspired them.
Sabine Zlatin's life as an artist is also evoked by the presence of the first book she edited with Denise Mantoux and Monique Frélaut: Survivants.
Following on from the Max & Otto Comics Festival held in April 2026, original drawings, sketches, and comic book pages are on display. The representation of Izieu holds a special place, while family memories also play their role in passing on traditions.
This exhibition offers a certain gentleness that contrasts with the powerful sense of memory conveyed by the drawings. Younger visitors can enjoy the exhibited documents at their own level and try their hand at folding their own "Paper-eaters" airplane.

On view at the Maison d'Izieu until November 2nd.
