Accompanied by a mediator, the children and their companions tour the house with the help of a booklet to discover the history of the Colony and the solidarity that helped save many children.
To visit the Maison d'Izieu is to discover the journey of more than a hundred Jewish children who took refuge in the Colonie d'Izieu from the spring of 1943 to the roundup of April 6, 1944. It is to understand the historical context of the Shoah, the history of the place and its resonance in contemporary history so that the memory of the past nourishes the present and the future.
Every Wednesday during school holidays, special tours for 8 to 12 year olds are organized.
Guided by a mediator, the children and their companions understand the history of the Maison d'Izieu in a completely different way.
With archival documents and testimonies to support their work, they discover the solidarity that helped save dozens of children while completing their booklet specially designed for them.
