History, culture and heritage

At the end of the 19th century, the rural commune of Siccieu-Saint-Julien-Carisieu faced a major challenge: the advanced state of disrepair of its parish church, Saint-Jean-Baptiste. The building, already repaired several times, notably its bell tower in 1852, no longer met the needs of the population or safety requirements. It was in this context that a vast reconstruction project was undertaken between 1890 and 1895, mobilizing the municipality, the clergy, the inhabitants, and several patrons.
