Visites guidées de la Maison d'Izieu

Classified as a historical monument, the memorial museum is one of the essential places of memory to visit in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.

When you arrive, a striking setting awaits you: the beauty of the place contrasting with the history it carries. You will distinguish at the end of the road, the house with the blue shutters. As you walk through the site, you can stop at the national stele of 1993 and at the commemorative plaques affixed to the house to pay homage and try to understand.

The house brings together letters, drawings and photos, witnesses of daily life at the Colony from the spring of 1943 to the roundup of April 6, 1944. Guided by a mediator, visitors discover the historical context of the opening of the Colony of Izieu by visiting the different rooms of the house: the classroom, the refectory, the dormitories...

The house is open to guided tours only. Check opening times at www.memorializieu.eu.
In addition to the 50-minute tour of the house, discover the nearby museum.

The museum is fully integrated into the former barn. The three permanent exhibition spaces and their numerous digital features allow visitors to delve deeper into and discover the historical context of the Second World War, the Jewish child rescue networks, international criminal justice, and the construction of memory today.
The building houses the bookstore, the documentation and research center, educational rooms, and a gallery of original works from previously unseen collections. A temporary exhibition is scheduled each year from April to October.

From January 01st to November 01st, every day.
