Réserve Naturelle Nationale du Haut Rhône Français

The French Haut-Rhône nature reserve extends over 25 kilometers between the Champagneux dam and the downstream of the Malarage natural gorge. It is the largest forest river reserve in France.
Upstream from Lyon, between the southern tip of Bugey and the hills of Dauphiné, the Rhône has filled with its alluvial deposits a vast lake created during the melting of the Quaternary glaciers. The river then wandered for several centuries, creating innumerable “lone” arms, before being channeled by dykes and cords of rockfill.
Kayak or canoe routes, boating, nature outings... a river to discover.
