Espace Naturel Sensible de la Save – Secteur des Étangs de la Serre

The ponds of the Greenhouse constitute a set of three ponds located in a wooded environment. Various facilities (picnic areas, games, toilets, barbecues) are present. The eastern part of the site is bordered by the Via-Rhôna.
The Serre ponds, located in the municipalities of Courtenay and Arandon-Passins, constitute a natural area with a total area of 42 hectares. Composed of three ponds as well as woods, reed beds, hedges, the site has a strong environmental richness (it is also integrated into the European Natura 2000 network as well as in the sensitive natural area of the Sava). Due to its surface area and the many protected and threatened species that it shelters, it is a major space in Isle Crémieu and the preservation of biodiversity is a major issue there. Moreover, one of the first vocations of this site is the preservation of the natural environment.

This site also has strong recreational and landscape value for the inhabitants of the area and beyond. The management undertaken by CC Balcons du Dauphiné and the Department of Isère aims to reconcile these different aspects as best as possible. Completed in 2016, the Via-Rhôna, which runs along the eastern part of the site, reinforces the recreational character of the site and provides easy access to the Serre ponds.

Several light developments allow you to take full advantage of this site while taking into account environmental issues. Thus, games for children, picnic areas (tables, kiosks, barbecues), toilets, etc., are present on the site. A path also allows you to go around the ponds.
Fishing activity is authorized in certain sectors of the ponds (modalities defined by regulations posted on the site) in order to best reconcile this leisure activity and the natural heritage.

Nature outings are organized during the summer by ENS facilitators. These free outings, open to all, are an opportunity to discover the fauna and flora of the site in the company of a specialist.
