The Balcons du Dauphiné Tourist Office provides an update on the important information you need to know to manage your activity, particularly on the classification and obligations of a campsite.
The classification of a campsite
The developed campsites
Developed camping and caravan sites are intended to accommodate tents, caravans, mobile leisure residences and light leisure dwellings. They consist of bare pitches or pitches equipped with one of these facilities as well as shared equipment.
They are classified according to the destination of the locations:
- With the mention “tourism” : if more than 50% of the locations are intended for rental by the night, week or month for passing customers,
- With the mention “leisure” : if more than 50% of the locations are intended for occupation for more than a month by customers who do not choose to live there.
Natural camping areas
Campgrounds classified as “natural areas” are intended exclusively for tents, caravans and motor homes. It is prohibited to set up light leisure dwellings or mobile leisure residences there. Their operating period does not exceed six months per year, whether continuous or not. The pitches and accommodation must not be individually supplied with water or connected to the sanitation system. Only one natural area may be created per land unit.
Obligations of a campsite: information to communicate to the customer
Before concluding any rental, the campsite must provide its client with several pieces of information in writing:
- Administrative information: telephone number, email address, website, classification, number of stars, campsite opening dates, arrival and departure times, number and date of the classification order, SIRET number,
- Information relating to the geographical location of the campsite and its surroundings (a location map of the campsite is welcome),
- Shared facilities located in the campsite: description of the rented accommodation (type of accommodation, interior description, etc.),
- Prices and rental terms: price of services ancillary to the rental and other services (Learn more),
- The campsite must have a house rules displayed visibly and available upon simple request by the customer (Learn more).
Obligations of a campsite: tourist tax
Campsites must also collect tourist tax.
The amount, applied per adult and per night, depends on the classification of the campsite.
Please note: in unclassified campsites or campsites classified 1 to 2 stars, the amount of tourist tax is different for camper vans, caravans, etc.
A tourist tax online declaration platform on the community of communes of the Balcons du Dauphiné is accessible online!
