EARL Noël Martin

A winegrower since 1968, Noël Martin produces IGP Isère Balmes Dauphinoises country wines.
The quality and authenticity of its production have earned it several awards, such as the Général Agricole de Paris and Effervescents du Monde competitions.
In 1976, the development of the traditional method marked an important turning point in the reputation of Noël Martin wines. Work on the taste and the elevation of this quality was put in place in order to perpetuate the tradition of this method, previously known in Saint-Chef by the ROJON family (1858).
Come and taste these wines in the estate’s cellar. Don't miss the first Noël Martin cellar which has become a museum, where you can find wine machines: sulphating machines, stills, corking machines from the last century.
The surface area of the vineyard is 11 hectares. A large part of it is over 30 years old, which provides undeniable quality. It produces an average of 65000 to 75000 bottles, and depending on the year of yield, 50 to 55 HL per hectare.
The management of the vineyard is done with respect for nature and the environment. Fertilizers added to the soil are used for organic cultivation; to this is added a restitution of pruned wood to provide additional humus. In terms of treatments, we speak of reasoned control, meaning optimization of treatments and therefore minimal use of them.
The grape varieties for white wines are Chardonnay and Viognier. For traditional methods these are Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. As for red wines, Domaine Noël Martin offers Syrah and Pinot Noir. As for rosé wine, find the Pinot noir grape variety.
The grape varieties are grown on clay-limestone soils for traditional methods and the white local wines of Balmes Dauphinoises; those of red wines are located on stony, sandy and arid lands.
Syrah requires high levels of sunshine. Thus the plots of this grape variety are located on very steep slopes facing due south. This involves difficult working conditions. Some of these wines are aged in oak barrels for a year.
Noël Martin wines are present every year at the Saint-Chef and Salagnon wine fairs.
