1. The heritage of Annoisin-Chatelans

– The parish church of Annoisin: mentioned as early as 1172, this medieval building has been restored several times over the centuries. It was enlarged in the middle of the XNUMXth century according to the plans of the architect Hugues Quenin, to whom we owe the construction of a side chapel.

– The house known as “Domaine de la Tour” (private site): built in the 16th century. The barn's framework is said to date from 1789. In 1850, the Domaine de la Tour was sold in five lots as part of the inheritance of the Reverdy brothers.

– The Jubilee Cross: installed in 1851 during a jubilee of Pope Pius IX who granted a plenary indulgence to believers for one year.
– The house known as the “Domaine de la Tour”: built in the 16th century.

– The monument to those killed in the Great War: erected in 1921.

– Without forgetting, the typical barred spur site of Devend and Larinaz and Charbonnier: listed in the inventory of historic monuments in 1983, it allowed the discovery of a unique ancient sword tomb in the territory.

– Don’t forget to open your eyes to admire the numerous bread ovens and wash houses in the town.

– In April, don’t miss the transhumance festival!
There you will find a market offering delicious local products and crafts. You can also take part in the transhumance walk, an excuse to discover abundant biodiversity.


2. Lauze and its museum in Annoisin-Chatelans

Most of the houses in Annoisin-Chatelans still have lauze roofs. These flat stones, used to cover buildings, are stacked with precision, imposing a significant weight on the frames: up to 500kg/m²!

Their nickname "firebreak" is no accident, as this ancient construction was an effective barrier against the spread of fires from house to house. These roofs, true guardians of time, are also prized for their exceptional longevity, capable of defying centuries.

Located on the edge of the Isle Crémieu plateau, the slate of Annoisin-Chatelans has a unique characteristic: an orange tint, the result of its richness in iron. A true natural work of art that you can discover by stopping at the Lauze museum, at the Auberge de Larina. An invitation to delve into the history of this emblematic stone.



3. The Annoisin-Chatelans anecdote: “Le Tort Tue”

“There are people so attached to their country that they have never left it. On the path which brought him back to the village, Father Liloupo (out of respect for this man whom his land has not enriched, and in memory of this turtle, we will not divulge his real name) from Annoisin-Chatelans meets and tells to his neighbor the extraordinary adventure he had just experienced. He had just defeated with difficulty and with sticks a “monster”, not very big but a watch nonetheless! Piqued in their curiosity, the neighbors went to the scene of the epic battle to find the remains of a poor turtle in pieces. This true story happened a few years ago, a turtle made the mistake of meeting Father Liloupo who saw torture for the first time in his life. And it is well known that wrong kills. »*
