La Salle du chauffoir

This room had the function of heating the convent thanks to the monumental fireplace located to the left of the entrance. It was also in this room that we could keep certain supplies in winter that feared frost, such as ink or wax.
This boiler room was built in the first half of the 16th century, it is covered with four intersecting ribs falling on a central pillar.
These vaults are characteristic of the Gothic period at the end of the Middle Ages.
The ribs are the diagonal arches located at the intersection of the vaults.
Each of the keystones is different. Facing the entrance on the right, the 1st key features a faded coat of arms. Then, a 2nd key is in the shape of a cabbage, to the left of it, you can again see a faded coat of arms then near the fireplace the 4th key is decorated with four sculpted cherub heads.
The current fireplace dates from 1606 as indicated on the mantle. The windows were pierced much later.
Many works were carried out in this room, especially in the 19th century.
