Maison "Minsac"
On the plateau above the village of Saint-Chef, a surprising house, the residence of an industrialist, emerges from the landscape like a ship, with its modern lines testifying to the avant-garde concrete architecture of the 1950s.
Built between 1947 and 1950 (the finishes not having been completed until ten years later), this house was designed by the Lyonnais architect Maréchal for his friend Mr. Minsac, a silky industrialist from Lyon who already owned a house in below at Arcisse. The building, well integrated into the site, emerges from a masonry terrace designed as a base. A pergola marries the edge of the terrace surrounding the body of the building with a rounded plan, which constitutes a sort of bow, and also evokes a ship's watchtower. All the details (location and shape of bays, ironwork, bands, cornices, pergola, basin, etc.) are an integral part of the overall design, which evokes a boat at anchor. Inside, the treatment of volumes and "accessories" is designed in harmony with the exterior.
The building has been awarded the "Heritage in Isère" label.
rewarding the heritage quality of a building of departmental interest.
