Porte Saint Symphorien et Porte Murine
The entrance to the village was formerly made by two entrances located at the two ends of the city, protected by a semi-circular fortified enclosure.
The side wall of Porte St Symphorien is still visible from Place Antonin Chanoz.
The Porte Murine (because facing the Maurienne) was located at the top of the stairs of the Rue Blanche.
A single shopping street once crossed the fortified town: the “Grand Vie”, today renamed Rue Ravier in homage to the painter.
