Rue des Adobeurs

In the 14th century, rue des Adobeurs housed the most important corporation in the city, the tanners also called Adobeeurs. They could take advantage of the water of the moats, very close, just outside the ramparts for laundering the skins.
In addition, their activity giving off relatively unpleasant odors, they were kept as close as possible to the periphery. The houses that we discover here, even if they have been rehabilitated, can give an account of the organization of the habitat of the Adobeurs. They were two-storey houses with a drying gallery.
