Rue des Augustins

Typical of the Cremolan urban landscape, this street presents a sampling of shops with stalls from the 16th to the 19th century.
The bays with stalls are these large rounded windows called basket handles.
On the ground floor was the stall, a place for commercial purposes or the workshop, a place for crafts.
A stall was often placed in front of the facades.
On the 1st floor was the living space and on the top floor the attic, then called “attic” which was used to store the goods which were most often brought up using a pulley installed above the skylight. You can still see them today.
We went from one floor to another using ladders.
We speak: English, French
