1. Soleymieu and its heritage

– The Saint-Romain church in Soleymieu: mentioned in the 12th century, it was rebuilt in the 19th century. This church is an architectural treasure that deserves a visit. With its rich history and fascinating architecture, it is a witness to past centuries and a place of meditation.

– The Couvaloup-Montagnieu fortified house (private site): probably dating from the 1979th century, it has undergone numerous transformations over the centuries. It is first of all an austere and fortified place whose position on the hillside recalls its defensive role. Then, it was transformed into a more comfortable residence, particularly in the 1979th century, under the impetus of work undertaken by the La Poype family, owners of the residence. It was partially listed as a Historic Monument in XNUMX (facade and roof). Since XNUMX, the Catholic community of Chemin Neuf has lived there and offers retreats and times of spiritual communion. Today, the site can be visited during the European Heritage Days.

– The vernacular heritage with the Soleymieu oven: built before 1826, it has the particularity of being open on both sides.

– Railway history: the village had a station in service since 1881 on the Eastern Lyon Railway (CFEL), in Sablonnière; freight traffic ceased in 1960.



2. Soleymieu, nature side

– The greenway: don't miss this recently developed route, on the old Est Lyonnais railway. It offers 18km passable for cyclists and hikers linking Crémieu to Arandon-Passins and connecting to ViaRhôna for long-distance enthusiasts.
