1. Trept and its heritage

– The Poype de Serrières fortified house (private site): dating from the end of the 13th century, the enclosure was enlarged over the centuries. In the 16th century, a wing, a dwelling and a spiral staircase turret to the south were also added. In the 15th century, it was a main building and a two-level gallery which completed the ensemble to the west. Finally, in the 16th century, a wing was built to the north served by a spiral staircase.
The fortified house houses precious frescoes dating from the 19th and XNUMXth centuries. Its history is closely linked to the La Poype family, in particular to Jean-François de la Poype, who contributed to its preservation during the French Revolution. XNUMX generations of this family lived there until the middle of the XNUMXth century.
It was listed as a Historic Monument in 1992.

– The parish church of the Assumption of Trept: replaces the old church called “Saint-Ennemond” because it was in poor condition and became too small in the 1865th century. Thus, in XNUMX the plans of the architect Berruyer Alfred were validated and carried out by the mason Montagnon François the following year. It preserves two XNUMXth century holy water fonts.

– The Cozance chapel: dating from the 291th and XNUMXth centuries, it is positioned at XNUMX meters. At the beginning of the XNUMXst century a local artist created the Stations of the Cross to which he added “The Resurrection” which is not usually represented.

– The Madonna: erected on an old castle mound, it was built in 1856 in gratitude for the protection of the Virgin against devastating floods. This imposing cast iron statue, resting on a 5,60 meter base of Trept stones, was the witness of numerous processions until the 1970s.

– The Trept stone:
In connection with the important quarrying past of the territory, we find in private sites traces of kilns where lime was collected after the calcination of the limestone. There are around ten at Le Marais, one of the three factories operated in Trept. These kilns were those of the Chevrot-Deleuze lime factory in operation from the mid-1960th century until the XNUMXs.
There is still a quarry in operation today in Trept on the La Gagne site, operated since 1970 by the “Saint-Hilaire Group”. Limestone is practically exploited in all its forms by the company which offers its services in very varied fields: industry (paper, metallurgy, etc.), building (coated materials, mortars, etc.), environment (water and smoke treatment, etc.), agriculture (soil yield, etc.) and animal nutrition (food supplement for strengthening bones, egg shells, etc.).

– The immense trompe-l’oeil “Au fil du temps”: in the center of the village, it was created by the Cité de la Création in 2000.

– The vernacular heritage consists of numerous ovens and wash houses.

2. Trept, nature side with the Sensitive Natural Space (ENS) of the Communaux de Trept*

Until the 1960s, cows, goats and sheep occupied the communal land of Trept, but cereal cultivation gradually took over on the most fertile land. The stony and steep areas have been invaded by bushes and woods, creating a typical landscape sheltering supportive biodiversity, notably the rare red thorn, now protected as an emblem of this Sensitive Natural Area (ENS).
Today, the path of the pulsatilles extends over 3 km, allowing walkers to explore this landscape marked by limestone slabs, curious rock formations such as the stone of the Good Lord and that of the Devil, as well as flora suitable for dry land, providing outdoor experience. Extend this moment with the picnic table on site. Don't forget the discovery booklet to learn everything about the Trept communal areas!**

*Events are regularly organized in the local ENSs. Information and registration at the Balcons du Dauphiné Tourist Office.
