Constantly on the lookout, perched at the top of a tree or on a fence, the bee-eater is a formidable insect hunter. As its name suggests, it likes wasps and hornets but also butterflies, dragonflies and other insects that it catches in flight.
Bee-eaters nest in colonies, they dig a horizontal burrow in the ground or on the side of a sandy cliff whose depth can exceed two meters!
