Discover Hières-sur-Amby, to the northwest of the Balcons du Dauphiné bordered by the Rhône. This town in northern Isère has many heritage treasures such as the archaeological site of Larina, the visit of which is completed by the archaeological museum.
1. The heritage of Hières-sur-Amby

– The archaeological site of Larina: discover the remains of human occupation from Prehistory to the Early Middle Ages. A journey through time, between ancient habitats, chapel and necropolises, on this site classified as a Historic Monument, parking at the entrance to the site or accessible by the hiking trail from the heritage house or from the Auberge de Larina in Chatelans. The site can be visited freely all year round.

– The archaeological museum: located in the heart of the village, this museum traces the history of the region's inhabitants, from Prehistory to the beginning of the Middle Ages. Thanks to a rich collection of archaeological objects and museum development, local history is recounted in a lively and accessible way.

– The parish church of Saint-Pierre: located in the heart of the village, this church has undergone significant renovations and modifications from the end of the 1923th century. Only the two side chapels from the XNUMXth century have been preserved as they are. The last repair was that of the bell tower in XNUMX by the Lyon architect Gaillard.


2. Hières-sur-Amby, nature side

– The ENS of the Larina plateau: a hiking trail will take you to the top of the plateau allowing you to enjoy one of the most beautiful views of the territory. You will discover a mosaic of biotopes, where moors, dry meadows and oak woods coexist. You can take this loop from the heritage house (5,8 km; D+200m; bonus: peat bog and lake) or from the hamlet of Chatelans starting from Chemin de Charbonnier (6,6km; D+250m; bonus: tables reading).

– The Sensitive Natural Space (ENS) of the peat bog and the lake: located near the Larina site, this peat bog is home to remarkable biodiversity, offering a privileged natural environment for birds and other wild species (accessible by the footpath from the heritage house).

– ViaRhôna: the town is bordered by ViaRhôna, a cycle route which allows easy access to the town's heritage and the discovery of the magnificent landscapes of the region on the banks of the Rhône.
