Horloge du clocher de Vasselin

Signed "LD Odobey Cadet Morez du Jura", this clock dating from 1926 was purchased thanks to donations from parishioners, municipal councilors and the proceeds of a raffle.
History:
On April 3, 1926, the Municipal Council of the Commune of Vasselin studied the project of installing a clock in the bell tower of the church.
Maison CHARVET in Lyon offers 3 dials for approximately 6000 F.
The Mayor specifies that he has 3000 F given by Mr. REYNIER and 2000 F given by Mr. APPRIN.
The Municipal Council decides to give 100 F each to make the estimated sum (Joseph CHARY, Marius AUDOUAL, Jean-Louis BLANCHIN, Constant GUILLET, Louis VARNET, Antoine GARNIER, Désiré GUILLAUD, Joseph GUILLET, Jean BLANC, Joseph CHOLAT).
On May 16, 1926, the Municipal Council decided to have the clock installed by Mr. PAULIN for the price of 7300 F.
On August 22, 1926, he gave his agreement for the scaffolding of the church by Mr. DREVON and for the drilling of 3 holes necessary for the clock.
The cost being higher than expected, it was decided to organize a raffle.
The installation of the mechanism is done on the 2nd floor of the bell tower just below the bells.
On October 2, 1926, payment of 5000 F to Mr. PAULIN for the installation of the clock, the rest having to be paid to him during a subsequent trip to Vasselin to ensure the proper functioning of the whole. Payment also of 10 F to Mr. CHARVET for the window of the clock.
On November 11, 1927, Mr. BLANC Joseph was commissioned by the Commune to reassemble and maintain the clock mechanism for 100 F/year.
On February 13, 1927, the accounts are made and following the tombola organized for the clock and after having paid everything, there are 2106 F left in the box.
After 75 years of good and loyal service, the mechanism is still in operation but work is needed.
On May 18, 2001, the company that maintains the clock suggests bringing the electrical circuit up to standard and installing an electronic clock.
The City Council believes it is best to keep the mechanism and not replace it with electronics. To facilitate its maintenance and better protect it, it was decided to lower the current mechanism and protect it with a waterproof cupboard.
