Maison forte de Courtenay

At the top of the Butte de Courtenay, a group of buildings comprising dwellings and agricultural outbuildings (stable, barn, shed) testifies to a long history, drawing its origins from the XNUMXth century until its transformation into an inn in the XNUMXth century.
Located at the top of the Butte de Courtenay, not far from the church, this building has undergone many transformations which no longer allow an obvious reading of its evolution. The whole is presented today as a series of adjoining volumes, arranged along the road and oriented north-west / south-east. The outbuildings consist of a barn and shed adjoining the house to the north and a second shed on masonry posts in the courtyard.
At the start of the construction, it seems to be a rectangular house with two rooms, formerly served by a spiral staircase housed in an octagonal cage. We can propose as an element of dating of this state (without prejudice) the chimneys and the shooting opening: second half of the XNUMXth century. However, an older dating is not impossible, if all of these dating elements were placed later, because the reuses seem numerous.

The building has obtained the “Heritage in Isère” label, rewarding the heritage quality of a building of departmental interest.
