Maison forte des Montagnieu

The stronghold of Montagnieu was built on the ramparts of the city, “en rassant” (flush with the ramparts). It has a remarkable Dauphiné roof and also has a beautiful porch in the garden.
Canon Auvergne announced his presence in 1586. Anne Romatier, lady of Marcollin, owns the fortified house known as the Montagnieu tower. In 1587 a will was written in the lower room near the garden of the Montagnieu stronghold.
Over the centuries, it will be in the hands of the Quinsonnas, Bernard de Marigny (general farmer, it was a salt depot), the Riondels and the Lassères.
Since 1950, it has been occupied by the Franciscan nuns, who have turned it into a gîte and guest rooms.
