Maison forte dit Château Vieux de Vertrieu

Built for defensive reasons to control traffic on the Rhône, border with Savoy, this castle at the top of the hill of Serverin was deliberately difficult to access. It is one of the oldest fortified houses in the territory
Archaeological excavations have been able to determine that several phases of development followed one another from the XNUMXth century. But with the Treaty of Lyon which put an end to the Delphino-Savoyard war then later the dismantling of the strongholds decided by Richelieu, this castle was replaced in the XNUMXth century by the Château Neuf which better met the new requirements of approval and comfort. .
