In the heart of Isle Crémieu hides the pond of Lemps, representative of the wetlands of North Isère. This 23 hectare site covers the municipalities of Optevoz and Saint-Baudille-de-la-Tour.
2 orientation courses (adults and children) are offered.
A thematic path and an observatory accessible to people with reduced mobility allow you to discover the aquatic life of the pond and in particular the remarkable European pond turtle, an endangered species. Recognizable by its black neck spotted with yellow, it lives, feeds and reproduces at the water's edge.
Emblem of the site, the European pond turtle is a species threatened by the disappearance of its habitat. The Lemps pond is an ideal environment for her (aquatic environment, resting places, adapted banks and dry hillsides for egg-laying).
How to recognize it? She is about 20 cm long, her eyes are red (males) or yellow (females and small), her body is black with yellow dots.
Among the 457 plant species inventoried, we find orchids, water bowls, snake tongues, amella asters...
Flora: 14 heritage species (Loose-flowered orchis, Orchis palustris, Upright microbius, Common hydrocotyl, Timeroy's knautia, Marine naiad, Common Ophioglossus, Loose buttercup, Maritime rumex, German waterwort, Water germander, Yellow pigamon, Bladderwort australe, 4-seeded vetch)
Fauna: 3 heritage species of invertebrates (Green Agrion, Stag beetle, Vertigo moulinsiana) 17 species of reptiles and amphibians (Nimble Frog, Pond Tortoise, etc.) 130 species of birds (Little Bittern, Reed Bunting, Martin fisher warbler, dwarf warbler, turdoid warbler, etc.)
Habitats: 12 heritage habitats (eutrophic stagnant waters, phragmitaias)

Sustainable tourism

In Isère, 17 departmental ENS and 129 local ENS participate in the protection of biodiversity. The Sensitive Natural Areas of Isère make up a remarkable conservatory of local natural diversity linked to altitude, the presence of a watercourse, a forest or other major elements for specific fauna and flora. A mosaic to preserve, enhance, develop.
