Overlooking the Chozeau valley, the fortified residence of Poizieu stands in the landscape opposite that of Boirieu. The oldest part dating from the XNUMXth century includes a narrow cylindrical tower crowned with battlements on consoles.
Perhaps it was inhabited by Aymar de Poisieu, nicknamed Capdorat, because of his blond hair, who after the attachment of Dauphiné to France, was one of Joan of Arc's lieutenants, which explains the presence of the statue of the latter on the village fountain.
